Ramen Where You’d Least Expect It and Our New Favorite Happy Hour

What we're eating and sipping this month

Coffee, Etc. | Blue Sail Coffee, Little Rock

Mornings recently got way more doable when Conway gem Blue Sail Coffee started brewing some of Central Arkansas’ finest just a block from our office. And while we’re personally partial to the pour-overs, items like the Kraken—espresso, half-and-half, whole milk and just the right amount of maple-y brown sugar—make it realllly easy to become regulars. The Happiest of Hours | Flyway Brewing, North Little Rock

Whether it’s smoked duck, wild boar, venison, elk, rabbit or spicy buffalo, these wild-game sausages being served on soft, salty pretzel rolls over at this standout North Little Rock brewery are, ahem, right on target. And with toppings like chow chow, candied jalapenos, cranberry mustard, onion marmalade, Texas caviar … Let’s just say we’ll see you at Happy Hour. Soon. (314 Maple St.; flywaybrewing.com)

We Heart Ramen | Arkansas Heart Hospital, Little Rock

With 18-odd varieties in rotation—think crawfish and Andouille sausage, smoked pork, and seared scallop, crab and American caviar—it doesn’t take but one bite to feel as though you’ve been transported from hospital cafe to Tokyo noodle shop. Suffice to say: We heart this ramen. (Note: A different flavor is served up for lunch every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.) (1701 S. Shackleford Road; facebook.com/ArHeartHospital)
