El Dorado’s Murphy Arts District

El Dorado’s darling downtown and friendly folks have long had us considering taking up address in the 71730. And now that the longstanding (and impressively ambitious) plan to create a downtown-El-Do arts district worthy of a city thrice its size is starting to take shape, we’re finding the town’s siren song increasingly hard to resist. Phase 1, which includes an 8,000-capacity amphitheater, a 2,000-seat music hall, a farm-to-table restaurant and the state’s largest playscape, opens next month, with names like Lyle Lovett, ZZ Top, Brad Paisley and Ludacris on hand to break in the new venues.
