AS A DAD, you want to keep your daughter safe, but you also want to empower her to create this independent young woman who’s not scared of anything or to take on the world. And I feel like I’m doing a pretty good job because if she is ever scared, she comes running to me and crawls up in my lap. And then she’s this incredibly strong-willed, smart, funny kid who’s really not scared of much. I just love the strength in her in this photo, because this is everything you want your daughter to be: strong and confident and courageous and all that. Yep. And this [other photo] is a giggle storm. Sometimes parenthood is just weathering the giggle storm—or running full force into it.
