Lessons From a Walk Across The Country

In 2005, at the age of 23, the writer Guy Choate set out with a childhood friend to walk every step across the country and write a book about the experience. The trip did not go as planned—his friend flew home from Arizona, and Choate hitchhiked a decent portion of the remaining distance—but a dozen years later, he says, he does have a manuscript about the experience.
